It’s the half-term winter break here in the South of France and my kids are out of school for an entire two weeks! We’ll be staying home most of the time, so I’m expecting the first signs of boredom to appear within the next couple of days (sigh!).
Luckily for us, the weather’s been glorious. Almost spring-like in fact! Trips to the beach, long walks in the countryside, and bicycle rides around the village are on the agenda, providing the sunshine stays. We’ve also stocked up on crafting supplies and I’ve bookmarked some easy DIYs to keep my youngest two on their creative toes. Thank goodness for Pinterest, I say! I love all the simple DIY ideas presented on her bilingual blog, along with her clever upcycling and no-fuss, fresh styling. In a similar vein, Justina Yang’s Panda-fied lampshade has to be one of the simplest, yet most striking DIYs I’ve ever come across. It’s modern and looks easy enough to make – definitely one for minimal, monochromatic interior fans.
DIY Skater Toy

Not only is this DIY skater toy super sweet, but it also comes with a video. El Hada de Papel is a European crafting site offering activities for big and little kids alike. I love it because it’s trilingual, makes use of recycling, and really demonstrates that you don’t need a lot of money to have a good time. My youngest son is a big fan!
DIY Polish Chandelier

Last but by no means least, if you’re feeling adventurous and are looking for an activity for the whole family, why not have a go at making this pretty Polish Pajaki-style chandelier? This model was designed as a Valentine’s Day ornament and has been decorated with hearts and paper straws, however I think it would add a happy, colorful vibe to your home all year round.

Seriously, how cute and original are these pop-up Valentine’s Day boxes designed by Kirsten Bingham as part of the 12 Months Marta craft project? I may be cutting it fine for this weekend, but it’s an idea well worth bookmarking for next year.
