To help you master it, we asked wall art pro and Framebridge founder and CEO Susan Tynan. 1. Tell your story
"The gallery wall is the perfect embodiment of who you are and what makes you happy," says Tynan. "So make sure to build out your wall with meaningful items."
2. Choose a foundation piece
"A great way to build your gallery is to start with one inspirational item that you can use to guide all future selections," she says. Pro-tip: Avoid placing this item, or the largest item, in the center.
3. Mix and match
Curate your wall to combine photography and artwork, but also add in mixed media and physical objects to give a multi-dimensional, textured look. "Think of a travel gallery wall that includes postcards and hotel matchbooks," advises Tynan.
4. Vary your frames
Choosing different frame styles and colors can provide a unique, collected look to the entire arrangement.
5. Call for back up
"Don’t feel the need to curate your gallery wall alone. Ask family or friends to provide their thoughts on your selections and layout," she adds.
